i'm really glad that Fox is showing Drop Dead Gorgeous this afternoon. I really enjoy laying on the couch, paging through the paper, and half watching movies I already know. A nap would be nice too.
Yesterday's Sherman Park races went off fairly well. One serious crash injury, one angry rider arguing with us... not bad for 11 hours of racing. I looked on longingly as my friends drank, shouted, rang bells, and danced to the muzak and I sat there jotting down numbers of who was in the breaks. B14 was nice enough to stick around till I got off, and we hung out afterward until the hours of sunlight made us pass out.
I was supposed to work the time trial today, but as I drove west the sky looked angry - purple and grey with dramatic low clouds. As I turned off I-55, it opened up and the driving rain brought traffic to a standstill. Lightning hit a nearby powerline, lighting up the dark sky with a shower of blue sparks. The race seemed unlikely and indeed it was called, but not until about 8:30am. I got home with plenty of day left for the normal people stuff, a short run and some housework.
The hardest part about today was realizing I was about 1 mile away from Palos- the closest I've been all season- but there was no way I could ride it. I miss trail.

I told Dominic if he ever races, he cannot argue with the officiators (is that the right word?) and he said he wants to win fair and square and that guys who argue are lame.
Thank you SO much for giving up a day to help us out. Always hate to hear about riders giving officials shit, but glad you're able to take it in stride. You guys did great.
And big thanks to the Half Acre Crew for making a day of it. Was awesome to have you there.
