I always laugh at how when something goes wrong at a CX race, someone always says it. There was some bad mojo in KC last weekend. A punch thrown. Hecklers at the podium. And today I read here that those hecklers did indeed damage some of the most gorgeous bikes ever made (ATMO) and made by a really nice guy, at that. WTF people?
The worst, though, is that outside of the punch, the damage was done by drunk "superfans" gone wrong, thinking they were cool. Way to support the sport.
It's sad.
...
I admit it, the snow yesterday was my fault. I rode Janie (fixed) to work, it was bound to happen. Ben and I had plans to get to last night, so I traded out for the fish and plowed through 4" of standing snow in the loop. A guy in a car rolled down his window and shouted at me, "You're one determined biker!"
I couldn't help it. "Not really, this is just one awesome bike!"
That 40lb touring tank can do anything.
I skipped the run this morning. I'll make it up, I swear.

That all sucks, no denying it, but I thought drunk superfans thinking they were cool and doing obnoxious stuff to get their photo taken ... isn't that part of Cross' charm? Wouldn't one word for it be ... "awesome"?
dude, the usual superfans ARE awesome. what's not awesome is being negative, mean, or causing damage. i think it's a pretty clear difference.
OK, I misread then. Sounded like you were hatin' on Superfans or being obnoxious. So as they keep it positive, the more obnoxious and stupid the better.
