My running legs returned during my pace run a week ago, I think. Suddenly I'm on pace or faster and even this morning's 4" of loose snow everywhere didn't push me out of pace range for the run. I uploaded the data from Saturday and the gizmo had lost me for .5 mi in the loop and thus screwed up my pace calculation. I was 3 sec/mi faster than the range I'm supposed to run the long runs, and I wasn't even pushing. Yowsa.
I've also been losing a pound a day this week, somehow. I recall reading last summer that women runners say they need to run 25 a week to keep their weight off. I think I've found my magic distance: 23 a week. Unfortunately I also desperately need new shoes, since I'm switching between the pair I ran a marathon on last May and the pair I bought in August. I guess I'm putting it off since I had intended to get something waterproof for winter, but winter's going to end relatively soon, and I should just buy some dang shoes of some sort already.
And in non-workout news...
The Mountain Goats and John Vanderslice are playing a show on April 1 just blocks from our home. You should come.
And I've started dressing up for work again. I don't have a dress code, but I did in DC and I still have those things in my closet, and sometimes I just need to feel a little better about myself. The funny thing is, it's resulted in far more people giving me the right-of-way on the singletrack-shoveled sections of sidewalks. Which I naturally refuse. But I didn't realize putting a dress coat and cute boots on could make my commute faster.
