Today was hill repeat day. I dreaded it when it came up on the calendar, but luckily, I'm not in Chicago. I searched MapMyRun and came up with this gem to the left- can you tell where the top of the hill is?
I fell in love with this neighborhood, its bungalows, its how-do-they-mow-that? off camber front yards and gorgeous views. The miles flew by. A few of the streets were so steep that I wasn't able to get my heel down, running up on the balls of my feet only.
I'm surprised hills are showing up in the calendar so soon. I want to try a super hilly marathon next year, and registration opens on September 1, so there are just weeks to talk this flatlander out of it. Today didn't convince me otherwise, though. It will be hard to train for in Chicago- the downhills are just as important to train on as up hills, so just jumping on a treadmill with incline isn't really an option.

if only you lived near Mt. Trashmore!! you could ride up to Cricket Hill occasionally, though?
It doesn't duplicate the running very well but stair descents work the quads like a downhill.
