down for the count.

It sucks getting hurt. It sucks more getting hurt when you're pregnant and don't know if the injury is because you're carrying 20+ extra pounds around, or if it's because your naturally relaxing joints are flopping to places they shouldn't be in during your workouts, or if you genuinely need new running shoes, or if you just flat out injured yourself like normal people do from time to time.

Yarg.

Last week I picked up this nasty knot on the right-front of my right shin. I immediately remembered training for my first marathon, how I hurt a tendon that wraps from the bottom of the foot to the outside of the ankle and up the shin- could it be that? I ran on it last week, took the weekend off, then came back yesterday to the most painful run I've ever had. Monday, 1 mile in, same thing. If I walked (hobbled, really) a bit (like, more than .25 mi) it would ease off a little, but it came back as soon as I started running again. Tuesday, same thing.

So, yesterday I popped in to see Joel the PT, from two years ago. Asked what he thought could give me a nasty knot right there, and of course, it's the same tendon. Eep. It's probably from the weight. And I could try to stretch/massage/exercise it out, but if I run at this weight again, it's likely to just come back. Yarg.

Let's make it official, then. At 28 weeks I'm switching from running to run/walking. This morning I managed a full mile before I had to walk (nay, hobble) from the pain. I'm still making it at least 3 miles for each workout, though, so that's something. I really wanted to run all 40+. Not sure it counts, but maybe this will go away.

it's finally summer! I don't blame you for wanting to spend as much time outside as possible this summer. I hope your body finds away to tolerate exercising outside w/o making your miserable

I have your book on my nightstand...I know you said you had it memorized but let me know if it would be helpful to have back sooner rather than later. I'm super proud of you for sticking with it all this time.
