Elliot is now two weeks old. Where the hell did those two weeks go?
Yesterday we tried something new, called "leaving the house for more than an hour." We drove about 90 min to my team's cx race in DeKalb. I carefully timed feeding E so that he could just sleep in the car on the way there and then arrive hungry. We had lots of firsts yesterday- first bike race for the boy, along with first feeding in public, first time using a changing table, first time hanging out in chillier weather, first time sleeping through cowbells. We had planned to leave after Ben's race, so I fed while he raced, but we were having too much fun. I told Ben to give me 20 min notice for when he wanted to leave so I could feed again, but it got me only 1/2 a feeding, and E sort of didn't agree to getting in the car. I tried to feed him by leaning over the car seat, but that was a no go. He cried a little, but he made it home. I was so glad to be out of the house. These walls, they close in... and it was awesome to introduce Elliot to a bunch of our friends.
Between races Jen offered to loan me her bike if I wanted to try going over the flyover. Ha. While things are going better, I think I can upgrade myself only to sitting on a comfy MTB saddle right now. Not a harsh road saddle though, and remounts are still out of the question. (If it's like this with no tearing/stitches, I can't imagine how women who do have stitches can get back on a bike any time soon.)
To mark the 2 week mark, I wanted to try running again today. It was... jiggly. My lungs are still not back where I think they should be, but that'll come. I made it through 3 mi with just one short block of walking per mile. Didn't want to overdo it. I want to start doing ab work and getting on the bike trainer soon too.

It was great to see you guys!
Don't rush it. You'll be back to yourself soon enough. I had stitches with Zoe, and yeah, the thought of sitting on a saddle was very intimidating.
I tore a little and had some stitches and I am totally in awe that you are out running. I'm just at the point now, at three weeks, that I can take our little dog on a half mile walk without it making me hate everything in the world.
And yay for first outing! That is awesome.
thats good you got out of the house. wow, 2 weeks old and his 1st bike race. wow.
