Have I mentioned that Elliot loves television? Yeah, he'll STARE at it. It's troublesome, really. It's hard to resist such an excellent soother but we aren't going to go down that road. So far we make exceptions for Badger/Packer games and the Daily Show. Don't ask why.
So, back at work today. It's hard being away from E but somebody has to make the donuts. I had planned to go home during lunch hour to feed him- it's about 2/3 mi- but the walk takes about 20 min one-way. (stoplights, elevators, etc.) I was considering a skateboard when someone recommended a razor scooter. While we were at the Thoms yesterday, Kristin mentioned that they had a ton of them and Jacob gave up one of his. Today, I scootered. It doesn't quite have the dignity and panache of a skateboard but it works fine on shoveled sidewalks and gets me door-to-door in 12-14 minutes, even though I have to walk nearly half the way due to unshoveled surfaces. Worth it for extra time with E.
Last weekend we discovered the new! exciting! challenges of winter-running-with-baby. As in, um, running stroller and unshoveled or icy sidewalk. Or windcover on stroller plus significant headwind. Or front wheel in puddle resulting in mud on baby's face. Once again, this running thing is making me a terrible mother. But it doesn't end there. Once home, there's the challenge of walking in the door with salty drippy stroller, way overbundled baby, and mucky disgusting dog. Dog needs bath before escaping into house, but baby needs out of the stroller and out of the snowsuit, but stroller can't go into house, and once baby's out baby needs to come into bathroom while dog is getting bath so something to contain baby needs to go in bathroom but it can't be drippy stroller... you get what I'm saying? I should give up running and just stick to knitting.
Of course this is all complicated by Ben being out of town for cyclocross nationals. He gets back late tonight. I can't wait.
Either way, there's no time in this day for a run. I'm going to put the bike back on the trainer and hopefully fit that in on non-running days. At this point trainer workouts are way easier than runs, due to the baby factor, the weather, and the short daylight, but I need to keep running if I'm going to pull off a half marathon in March. Last week I ran two 5's and two 3's. That seemed like a good amount, on top of the core work. But I really want to get back to my minimum-of-20-a-week days.

how was everyone in the office?
Have you tipped the stroller over yet? I've done that at least once when Drexl saw something exciting on the right side and I had the leash on the left of the stroller.
It's funnier when I manage to tip the Burley over when Christopher is not in it-- like when I'm going to pick him up from preschool. You get some really odd looks from drivers when you nonchalantly stop and put it back right side up. = )
glad the trainer is out. i am so glad you are getting back to some routine, molly, baby, work, baby, work, home, ben, baby, molly, baby, ben. damn. xo.
Congrats to Ben on his placing in Bend!
