running stroller zen.

It's finally happened. Yup, only about 6.5 months after I started running with our BOB Revolution, it's dialed in enough to make me happy. See, we could have gotten the Ironman, with its big fixed wheel that always tracks straight, but I wanted a stroller we could use for more than just running, so the fixed/swivel Revolution is what we got. The conversion, while easy, means that you have to adjust the front wheel to make sure it goes straight-- which will not go straight if the adjustment is imperfect, if the running surface isn't flat, if the two back tires don't have approximately the same air pressure, or if a butterfly lands on the thing.

Today, I got it right. Woo hoo.

Running with a properly adjusted stroller is almost like not running with a stroller at all. Push, run behind it, in about 3-4 strides just tap it forward again. Last week my arms hurt after 5 mile runs of re-aiming the stroller. Today, it was smooth sailing. I could run a marathon with that thing now. And the heat means Molly's pretty chill on the run too.

Let's hope this easy streak lasts.

(The stroller also started squeaking after a slushy snow run this winter. I finally pulled out the WD-40 last week and fixed that too. So it's really, really an improvement!)

In other news, posts like this about pits being nanny dogs are all over the internet suddenly. There's one on facebook too. While Molly may be super energetic and a little over-inclined to give Elliot face kisses, she is an *excellent* nanny. From the day he came home from birth she's been following him around, making sure we treat him right, observing diaper changes, supervising play sessions, and freaking out when he isn't around. I can't wait for him to play with her in a few years. Hopefully Molly- who's probably now 5- lives a very, very long time.
