for sale: 48cm Jonny Cycles, 49cm 3rensho.

I'm going to sell my fixed bikes this spring, for no reason other than that they just don't get ridden. I'm in no hurry at this point... if nobody I know wants 'em they'll probably end up on ebay in March or something.

The 48cm Jonny is fixed, drilled for a brake, has S&S couplers (I'll toss in the travel bag for that), and has a primo build including Phil BB, King headset, Phil Wood SLR hubs laced to nonmachined Deep Vs, superbe pro cranks, a Phil cog, Nitto Pearl stem, and more. Lugs were stamped with stars; couplers were polished till they shine. More photos here. Currently built with Soma Sparrow bars. Sold complete.

The 49cm 3rensho is my little project bike from a few years ago. It came to me in pretty bad shape- showing some rust n' paint pretty chipped off. So, this is a "rehab," if you will. It has the trademark 3-point San Rensho lugs, pretty cool. 110 spaced rear. Built pretty darn NJS with DA BB, hatta swan headset, Sugino 65 cranks, Nitto Jaguar stem and post, and Campy sheriff star hubs laced to araya gold rims. (Glue job is 3 yrs old, needs regluing!) More photos here, but note those aren't the wheels on it anymore. Sold complete.

Asking price on each is in the $2k range. Sorry, but they're both bikes that reflect my persnickety view of how bikes should be built, and thus carry some costly components and unusual details that make them quite unique.

back at it. I haven't run double-digits since last spring's failure marathon, so I was surprised how easy and natural it felt. I even ran the last 2 mi at pace. I was a little sore but could have kept going. Finally, I feel like I am good at this. Distance is what I do!

Thanks for your kind comments about rest days. I actually had one rest day- Thursday- before, since I doubled-up on workouts Wednesdays. I reshuffled to drop the 5th run of the week- I've run two marathons with 4 days a week of training, so no worries- and now I have Monday and Friday off. It'll pull 5-8 miles a week off the schedule, hopefully ending the burnout.

falling off the horse.

I missed my run this AM. I didn't sleep well and just couldn't get out of bed. I think I am actually overdoing it with the 5 days a week of running and 2 of cycling, so rather than beating myself up over missing workouts, I'm going to modify. I need more off days. This should be ok if not fun. This shouldn't be stressful.

Ben and I have been watching very much television lately. I am a big fan of the Food Network; he prefers the Discovery Channel. I hate how the Discovery shows glorify raping nature of all there is- shows about mass fishing, clearcut logging, stealing crabs from their cosy underwater homes... makes me sad.
