annoyed.

it's one of those days (again?) where the lovely fall weather is slightly overshadowed by the sheer difficulty of getting things done. like...
why doesn't anywhere sell buckets anymore? has swiffer really taken over the market to the point where you have to go to a big-box hardware store for a humble bucket?

i got into a bit of an interwebs throwdown with a fellow wrench over whether it's ok to leave carbon tubular wheels out in the sun all day. in last weekend's 80+degree heat, I made a point of keeping Ben's wheels in the shade. When we were in Michigan, many of the guys rolled tires and Franky said, "these cyclo-cross glues, they're not made for the hot weather." Why chance it? I mean, why risk melting your glue if you can just put the bikes in the shade of a tree instead?

as i walked to work today, there was a lady locking up a brand new schwinn, price tag still on it, with one of those crappy cable locks. i always have to say something.
"Hey, I just noticed that you're locking with a cable lock. Lots of people have their bikes stolen from those- thieves just cut right through them. If you can, get a solid u-lock instead."
"I know, but it's a chance I have to take. The bus went up to $8, this bike cost $80. The good locks are like $30. I'm doing what I can."
Huh. I suddenly felt bad for saying something. Eff this economy.

the huge knot in my right calf feels like a bruise to the touch. i've been putting tiger balm on it and wrapping it, stretching it too. my office reeks like tiger balm. the leg hurts too much to use the stick. i may not be racing this weekend after all. wtf did i do?

and... i need a photo for this post... ok, that'll do. Delhi, 2006.

Your calf - ice it and take some Advil. Stretch the fuck out of. Hey, you know what we both REALLY need? Bikram yoga. I know Chicago is FULL of yoga studios. Cinti only has ONE HOT yoga class and I am going next week. Runners need a dose of yoga every now and then. You need something different....

Fuck the economy is right.
