that hurting, burning feeling

"Gross," Ben just said. That's what he gets for reading over my shoulder.

So, ok, I said I'd actually cross-train this year, aka actually ride my bike outside of race day, and Sunday is thus computrainer or "Julie works her ass off in attempts to not have all the guys beat her" day. That's right, after a nice long run on Saturday mornings, I climb insane hills on the trainer on Sunday. Actually, I'm quite enjoying the Half Acre Social Hour that Sunday computrainer times have become.

But I'm the only girl at trainer days(even though my team has twice as many girls this year- isn't that awesome?), and the only one on 26ers, and I'm usually dangling off the back of the group until about 2/3 of the way into the course, in which case I come close enough to the 5th place guy that I crank way harder than I should, spike my HR to around 190, and do things that make me generally hurt. I've been not-last a few times now. Today, I was 100' back from a teammate and he dropped me when my burning legs just had nothing left in the last climb. But, oh, yeah...

Look out for those Half Acre Cycling kids. Rumor has it they're going to be championship climbers in 2009.

We're still trying to figure out whether me being on 26ers has an effect on the stats- whether it effects the speed or power that the trainer thinks I'm putting in, for better or worse. Anyone?

No idea about the wheel size, but just bump your weight with bike down and - voila - you are faster. Or maybe you should make the guys weigh in. ^_^
