That's the question of the day. We were running East on Randolph to hit the Lake Front Path but at the pavilion the snow on the sidewalk in a purple-boxed area got 5" deep. Knowing dogs weren't allowed but hoping the park's so-called "welcome crew" better known as "GET YOUR DOG OUT OF HERE! people" wouldn't be out en force at 9am in the middle of a snowstorm, we turned to cut through Millenium Park. We made the turn south and immediately there was a yellowjacket standing there. I was in headphones and couldn't hear a thing he said, so I kept going. Seconds later, another yellowjacket, just 50' or so down the way steps out of the falling snow, appearing from nowhere. How did they know I was there? How did they get there so fast?
So I've decided that the trick to Millenium Park is (drumroll please) it's actually hiding a giant underground missile bunker, weapons all pointed at Canadia. Dogs aren't allowed because they'd sniff this out, and the security is tight to make sure nobody catches on. I bet they have cameras and radios and everything, hence them getting there so fast.
Just thought I'd share that with you.
The Lake Front Path was probably plowed early in the morning, but by 9 it was under 4" of snow in most areas and nearly a foot where it had blown over. I saw two other runners on the path and they appeared like dark shadows from behind the wall of falling snow. The path was not shoveled south of the Shedd. The keyword for today's run is sandbox. Or struggle. Or so what, it's effing done, give me a bloody mary, will ya?
