Today was a "just ride" day, so Audrey convinced me to join her in some exploring. She wanted to find the end of the Chicago river. We rode behind a union hall and next to a junkyard fence and through a patch of weeds and found the foulest stench ever known to man, aka the end of the Chicago River. When we were reading the educational bit next to the union stockyards entryway later, I'd learned that she had led me to the nefarious Bubbly Creek. Ew.
Later we rolled over a fence and through an overgrown vacant lot to see some art, and then proceeded with General Exploration. Fun. What was awesome was finally using the Atlantis for what it was meant for- riding through knee-high weeds in abandoned fields filled with chunks of asphalt and construction debris. What what.
Yesterday Ben and I hit up Rock Cut. Outside of the intermittant swearing about poor trail markings and maps, it was pretty fun. We found this really super hardcore trail in a little glen where the elves must live. I was terrified to walk it but Ben naturally killed the thing. The rest of the trails were pretty easy with one or two technical bits thrown in. I really liked the "choose your own adventure" trails near the fishing pier. But that's just me.
Now, time to make pie.
