40 mi on trail and an awesome wedding in the same weekend. Aw, aw. (Midafternoon drinks FTW.)
Anyway.
Saturday Ben forgot to tell me that the connector and Emma aren't made for the faint of heart (like me). So Soupy, Jason, Soupy's friend Carlos, and Ronit and I rode it, and it was not entirely fun... like, 6" deep of sand fun, but had the water at the Emma not been off, it wouldn't have been quite so hardcore. 90+ degrees, out of water 12 miles in, and didn't finish till 27mi. Dreams of swimming, fantasies of gallons of joy. Yup.
This morning, battling the crowds at Palos. Meant to meet Paul-Brian but missed him... came back to the lot only to see him across the lake climbing the grassy hill to try to get me. Yargh! A couple few times around the quieter trails at Cemetery Hill and I finally ran into him, just in time to head back to the car. I had logged 13+ mi.
Then, our good friends Sam n' Sarah tied the knot. Congrats! Being there- after they were at ours- was a great reminder of why we do this. Sam and Sarah, Ben and Julie, TLF. They cried at their vows. We did too.
