Well, my season is over. Finally. Now, back to the things I usually do this time of year: wrench for Ben and run the dog.
After 4 weeks of injury-enforced sabbatical, the longest I've taken off since I started running 2 1/2 years ago, getting back to it yesterday hurt. My foot hurt, my legs hurt, my head hurt. The fitness is there for sure, but the legs are angry. I had to fight the "that's enough, just stop" instinct just 2 miles into the run (really, it used to take 10-15mi to get that feeling) and I ached all day. Today, I did it again. Three-mile days, no measuring my pace, just trying to run fast. Next week I'll go back to the gizmo.
And Ben's bikes... it's back to game-on as of Friday, so I've got some bars to wrap, a derailler to tune, and two bottom brackets to install. Does anyone in Chi happen to have the Chris King BB tool? If not, I'll hopefully be able to get someone to bring one to Iowa City and I'll be working in the hotel room. Fun times.
I need to stop looking at the weather for this weekend, it's too far out and it's stressing me out. I just hope it's not cold AND muddy. I can take either-or, but the mud and snow mix just makes bike wash completely miserable.
