(photo: Amy) Sunday morning, Hemme, Amy, Al, Evan, Jacob, and I met up at Palos. The guys wanted to do their fast thing, so Amy and I rode with 12-year-old Jacob and 9-year-old Evan. It was pretty rad. Jacob has absolutely no fear and will huck his bike around like mad, and Evan's still a little tentative about things but Jacob encourages him. We stopped at the top of each of the 3 ravines, and Jacob would tell Evan which line to take and how easy it was. Then Jacob would ride it, then I would, and then Evan would give it a shot, with Amy going last. Jacob rode all three. Evan walked the first one but rode the other two. It was just a really cool process to watch- the brothers doing what brothers do. It was great finally catching up with Amy, too.
My entire body hurts now, though. 6 days on the bike last week (1 rollers, two lake front path mornings, 2 palos, 1 cx practice, 1 cx day)and it was rough to get back on it this morning. 40 min on the rollers and the fixed gear ride to work had my legs screaming for an easier gear. It's just that time of year when I'm trying to cram one last trail ride, one last morning in before the cold shuts down the cycling.
