Busting out.

I don't have mechanicals very often. Sure, most of my bikes have nagging injuries of sorts-- the rubbing brake or the slightly-off derailler- but none of it stops me from riding, it just reflects my laziness with every pedal stroke. When things are broken, I fix them. (When things are just slightly off, I drink instead.)

That's why it sort of blew my mind when, while sprinting last night, my chain broke. I looked closer- it was the powerlink. I somehow bent it open and broke one of the pins right off, though probably not in that order. The link's been opened and closed several times in the chain-cleaning process, but never bent. I think it's the SHEER MASSIVE POWER of my UNDENIABLE STRENGTH. Or something. Still, I got to finish off the night by doing dismount/remounts with no chain. Boy, that'll teach you to build momentum on the remount. Ugh.

Anyway, more mornings on the rollers, and that's about it. Sunday will be my last race of the season, then I'm hoping to get back to running by Monday. Since the news came down that it was a tendon and not a bone issue in my foot, I've been stretching like it's my job and trying to fix it. I'm ready to start tackling some hills. But, oh yeah, indoor trainer class starts in just two weeks... though I'll miss the first 3 sessions thanks to PDX.
