I need to stop trying to race.

The boy is getting big. Interactive. Human, even. He knows how to pull at the heartstrings.

So, we went to Eau Claire for Thanksgiving, so that Elliot could meet my grandmother. It was freezing rain and snow on the drive up. Thanksgiving morning it was seven degrees, so naturally I ran their 5 mile Turkey Trot. There were people lined up at the start in cleats because the roads were still iced over. I hadn't packed appropriately and ended up putting the free long-sleeve race t-shirt over the wooly baselayer I had packed. Still, I ran it. My finish time was pretty pitiful but it was only my second time even running a 5 miler since June. I'll get there. I'm a minute a mile slower than I was... then again it was icy and 7 degrees.

Today I ran another 5 miler just to be sure. I want to go back to having 5 be my base run, as opposed to 3.

Since my bike was stolen I haven't been to trail. I sent in the check to get my first Rock Lobster and I've already ordered many of the components. It was a tough decision but I think I'm a 3x9 rider. Screw this 2x10 nonsense, I need a darn granny gear.

Two weeks till I return to work. I'm terrified.

Way to go out there and still run the race!
Best of luck in going back to work! Can you start easing your way into it, like having someone watch him increasing amounts over the next two weeks?

3X9 as an added bonus is dirt cheap online nowadays.
