This morning, I decided to try getting back to morning workouts. It was convenient that Elliot was up at about 6:45am, and as I sat in bed feeding him I figured the timing would be perfect for a morning run.
Then he ate. And ate. And ate.
Fast forward to 7:25am, when he's finally about done. Too late for a run. I keep re-doing the calculations in my head... have to leave the house for work by 8:45. Need to shower, eat breakfast, feed him just before leaving. So, need to be done with workout at 8am latest. For a decent run I'd need to be out the door around 7am, 7:10 at the latest, since I need to build in time to walk Molly the first two blocks plus elevator time, etc. So that was a no go. I was thinking about either 30 min on the trainer or 30 min of stair climb, but getting the bike on to the trainer and hooking it all up takes way more time than throwing on shorts and a tee and getting to the stairwell.
7:30am, out the door to the stairwell. Molly gave me the saddest face ever. Usually running shoes on = Molly comes along. Poor girl.
So, my stair climb workouts are usually on weekend mornings, and I've started taking the elevator down since the down destroys my legs. This morning, due to AM work traffic, the elevator waits at the top ranged from 15 sec to about three minutes. No good for a workout, but I did get 8x up the stairs in, for a total of 80 stories.
Anyway, I get back in the house at 8am. Dripping with sweat. Baby's in Ben's arms fussing, Molly is still sitting at the door pouting. 45 minutes to shower, dress, pack up my work stuff, eat breakfast, feed the baby, and get out the door. Let's just say it was a full-on sprint and I sort of never stopped sweating.
So, try 1. Run fail, workout semi-fail, getting ready for work fail.
Tomorrow... try 2? Let's see if I can actually get a run in.
I'm actually quite motivated right now, though. If Elliot would let me sleep a little more I could see getting up at 6am to make it all work. I've been doing some more solid- if short- workouts and I'm finding ways to turn myself inside out in under an hour. I'm just worried about the mileage ramp-up for the March half. Hopefully long runs one or two days a week are enough.

Drexl is the same way about seeing my running shoes. I've been wearing them for PT and keep them in a bag 'til I get out the door.
Good luck on Try 2!
