I got an email last night that due to changes in polling (did the polls really change in the last 24 hours?) they want me in North Carolina or New Hampshire instead. I guess I won't know where I'm really going for this election till my feet are on the ground there.
Meanwhile back in not-racing-cross-land, I went to the ChiCrossCup "High Octane Fuel for Cyclo-Cross Racers" clinic last night, taking notes for the home team. You'll remember my duncing out over nutrition recently, and I thought this might help. Well, it sort of did. Turns out Ben does 90% of the race day diet right (go team!), and about 20% of the training day diet. I mean, would eliminating Skittles, pizza, donuts, burgers, and fries really make him faster, or just hungrier more often? I think my strategy is going to be buying huge amounts of pretzels, nuts, and other carby snacks in bulk and getting them into Ben's office somehow. Yeah, that'll work.
I guess the major take home is, hot damn! do we need carbs! They were recommending 2-3g of carb for every pound of bodyweight for workout recovery after a 1 hour medium-hard effort. That's like a huuuuuuge pile of pancakes. but good news, pancakes are PRO.
Oh, and I won the Cycle-Smart "Solutions for Cyclo-Cross" DVD in the raffle. Lemme know if you wanna borrow it. I plan to watch it just to see more of Adam Myerson in action. Guy's got the best piercings in the pro group.

Put me on the list to borrow the DVD!
It's too bad all that riding doesn't allow us to eat whatever we want....
Costco is great for pretzels and nuts.
If you end up in New Hampshire, I'll have to put you in touch with my brother Ian. He lives in Concord and knows how to PARTY. He's more out of control than I am, if you can believe that.
Guys, I am in the wholesale food business and I think I am pretty close to wear you live. If you are interested I could help you out with some groceries at cost. We sell to restaurants so most items are in bulk, but things like dairy, fresh produce and meat items we could definately work something out on.
