I woke up last night when my phone rang. Rolled over, exhausted, went back to sleep. First thing this morning, listened to the voice mail left by a goooood friend. He drunk dialed me, this time luckily there were no police or mouths full of grass involved, but still... he was talking about missing the "old days." He's since had a child and gotten married, I've gotten married and moved away, and obviously nothing we do will bring back the bicycle-inspired-madness of yore. But today, I'll be thinking about it. All day.
In DC we built a crew of riders who shared a common vision of shenanigans, fun, camaraderie, and strange in-jokes. Not all of us drank, surprisingly. And none of us were seriously injured in the process. The leftovers from those days include a bike polo squad, an online message board, and some awesome stories... and a few scars. Man o man.
So, here in Wisconsin, I'm living at my folks' house. Which has its perks. While I said I would grocery shop yesterday, my 10am-8pm work schedule didn't really allow it, but still I came home to a house full of JulieFood. My mom has been cooking meals and leaving leftovers out for me, and she packs lunch for me, complete with ice pack. I'm going to gain Serious Weight in the next two weeks if I'm not careful.

A run a day will keep your weight in check. Mmmmmm. Mom's cooking for 12 days should make it all worthwhile.
